On December 26, the first day of the 2024 IIHF World juniors Championship in Gothenburg, Sweden, the United States will play one of four games against Norway. The competition will take place from December 26, 2024, to January 5, 2024.

In the 2023 World Junior Championship, Canada emerged victorious, defeating Czechia 3-2 in overtime at the Scotiabank Centre in Halifax, Nova Scotia, on January 5. It was Canada's second consecutive championship. Canada was the last team to win three or more tournaments in a row; they won five in a row between 2005 and 2009.
